Legendary Tracker "The Hunted" Knife

As the story goes the Tracker knife (also known as WSK (Wilderness Survival Knife)) started its life line in 1980s designed by a renowned survivalist Tom Brown Jr. and made in collaboration with a custom knife maker David R. Beck. The knife became famous after it appeared in the movie "The Hunted" (2003) starring Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Torro where Tom Brown Jr. was a technical consultant. The movie appearance made the Tracker knife so famous and popular that to satisfy a demand TOPS USA started producing a factory version of the knife known as Tom Brown's Tracker knife.

Knife Versions

The "original" version of the knife that appeared in "The Hunted" seems to be the one designed and manufactured by David R. Beck and is now made under the name "WSK". The only officially licensed "Tom Brown Tracker" knife is being manufactured by TOPS Knives. But as the knife design is easily available in the public domain there is a host of knife makers that produce their own version of the knife that usually somewhat different from the original movie version according to a maker's taste.

The media industry managed to create so much hype around the Tracker knife that numerous knife makers both professional and amateur had made various variations of that knife and it's possible to bay many of those variation form different sources to suit almost every budget and quality requirements. The most distinctive quality of the Tracker knife is found in its original blade shape that the makers claim possesses certain unique versatility. Here you can see some examples of knife usage that  most likely are supposed to convince a buyer to invest in the tool. But obviously those examples are not unique to the Tracker knife design and there are various implementations of wilderness survival knife idea offered by other knife makers that have no less popularity.
