Loveless Drop Point knife: forever classic

In the knife world, no name has greater magic than R.W. Loveless. During the peak of Loveless’ popularity, if you wanted an original, you had to be prepared to wait three years or pay thousands of dollars because the demand outstripped supply for three decades. Even though all of his creations are real masterpieces the most famous one that has immortalized his name is known as "Loveless Drop point Hunter".

The design he created is 100% recognizable by a distinctive drop-point blade shape with a very thick spine and extremely high hollow grind, and of course characteristically anatomical handle profile with a palm swell, front guard, front and back finger grooves, and a lanyard hole.

This design had become classic almost instantly and so popular that a lot of other knife makers started replicating it in their products. Despite the popularity and high availability of similarly looking designs on the market only a few can truly be called a "Loveless drop point design": those manufactured under Mr. Loveless personal permission.

One of the most popular true replicas still available for purchasing is made by Beretta. Before his passing, Beretta teamed up with the master maker to create the first line of series-manufactured Loveless-style knives. Designed for rugged hunting use, this Zytel-handled drop point knife follows the original design and features a high hollow ground blade with reinforced spine for extra strength and durability. The blade bears the famous oval R.W. Loveless design logo but obviously not his personal mermaid logo.

The knife comes equipped with the US made, vegetable tanned leather sheaths, stamped with the Beretta Trident Logo, are designed especially for the quality of the knife and the rigors of the hunt. The deep pockets and rollover belt loops provide great knife security.

Overall length 8”, blade length 3.38", steel AUS-8A. Knife made in Japan. Sheath made in the US.
